In honor of the Milan Bicentennial, on May 20th, the Rowe Church, whose members sang with us at the Bard All-Day, are graciously inviting us to Sing as part of their service 11-12, and, following dinner on the grounds, to conduct our regular Shady Singing there 1 - 3.
There will be remarks on the singing school tradition and its connection to the Rowe Church particularly, where George Coles (composer of 164 and 198 in the Sacred Harp) taught music in the 1840's.
In short, the regular Shady/woodstock singing will take place 11- 3 in Milan, at the Rowe Church, with dinner graciously provided. Musical Service 11-12, dinner, then our normal singing 1 - 3 with members of the congregation.
It is a special occasion, and this music has had a major role in shaping that community in its past. Please make your way Sunday, May 20th.
Rowe United Methodist Church is on your right heading east on 199 toward the Taconic; if you pass the mobile station you've gone too far! It's a white greek revival hall, raised, overlooking fields that're on your left.
Thank you all,
They will be so glad to have us- it is important to them, and is in our best interest as a community to attend.
